While looking through the Economic Statistics for Second Life, this morning, I noticed something that seemed a little odd. In the last graph, titled “L$ Sources and Sinks”, the is a description for “Stipends”. The figure for the sources (or the amount paid to residents by LL for January 2008 was L$165,319,050. Breaking this number […]
About 20 hours after residents first reported that they had downloaded the new 1.19.0.0 Release Candidate viewer, and were told that they needed to revert back to version 1.18.6.4, Chiyo Linden finally got around to posting something on the official blog. TWENTY HOURS!!
UPDATED: Sometime in the 3 hours after I posted this, Frontier Linden updated […]
What’s happened this week has a lot more people realizing that Linden Lab has no concern for the majority of their customers. Things like storing persistent data in the description field and using “pipe” character have been relatively commonplace, and the latest “upgrade” makes any object that depends on that unusable. The persistent data in […]
For the past couple days, I’ve been watching the posts on the Official Linden Blog and the comments that people leave on the ones that allow it. I know that Ric Mollor and Lucky has left comments on the first Weekly Wrap Up post, basically saying that I could copy and paste the entire contents […]
Wyald Woolley left a message that supposed came from the CNN News Wire. It’s easy to realize that this was made up, though, and could never truly happen.
“For nearly 15 minutes yesterday, SecondLife experienced unprecedented stability.” (Read it all)
This whole week has been plagued with outages, rolling restarts, and the SL web site going down, […]
I can’t actually watch Wonderland (I guess that tells you I’m not British), but it looks like the strangest of the strange from Second Life actually had a chance to be on “prime time” in the UK. From the story at the Telegraph website:
Wonderland (BBC2) has already established itself as a reliable source of strange […]
I decided to gather a few quotes from people saying how bad Second Life sucks, without really saying that it sucks. Looking at the amount of people saying things like this, and how often they are said, it’s really amazing how “this” site isn’t overflowing with frustrated Second Life residents. Here’s some random quotes from […]
Throughout the problems of the past couple weeks, I do have to honestly say that the updates that the Linden’s are giving on their blog have actually been pretty good. They seem to be responding more in the comments, and answering questions that people are throwing at them… at least a couple of them, anyway.
Even though the past week has been filled with more of the same (downtime, rolling restarts, logins not working), at least they are taking a little bit of time to explain to their users, what’s happening.
I realize that this isn’t a “normal” sucks post, but I did want to point out that the responses in the comments “are” being noticed. Thank you Sidewinder and Prospero.
It looks like Linden Lab has another defender, besides Armanna. Recently, Bob (or Bibbo, as he might better be known), while trying to defend Mono, has been trying to convince himself that this site is a pointless waste of time. He seems to think that I have no clue about the subject of SL Sucking, while trying to tell me how much better SL would be with Mono on the grid.
You don’t work for Linden Lab, Bob. You don’t even live in the same country. I highly doubt that you’ve spent any real money on SL or ever will, in the future. Why do you insist that this blog is a complete waste of time, and that I have an unrealistic view of SL, yet you keep coming back to leave comments here? Isn’t “that”, in fact, a waste of time?
Now, I’ll say that I will never lock anybody out of this site or prevent them from leaving comments, here. I do request that you actually have something constructive to say, though, rather than being counter-productive, or attacking the only reason that this blog exists. This place is not called “SL Sucks” simply because it was the only URL available. It is all about any and every reason why SL sucks, and nothing more… no matter how big or small the reason.
If you can’t understand that, then there’s no use leaving a comment saying how much you think that I am too committed to highlighting the bad and closing my mind to situations where it doesn’t suck. If you do leave a comment, back it up with a little bit of substance, please, rather than revert to namecalling. If you’re gona’ start, though, don’t expect to be taken seriously, or for me to sit back and take it.
A little forewarning: Don’t get me started on those damn Canadians!
It looks like the Lindens are even causing an inconvenience for themselves, as the recent “redeploy” took longer than expected. It’s about time, don’t you think? The Lindens have an event scheduled and are unable to host the event because of problems on the grid… something that their paying customers experience all too often. The grid wasn’t available for the office hours at 3PM on Friday, but they are still planning to hold office hours in Sandbox Goguen MONO on the beta grid at 8AM on Wednesdays and 3PM on Fridays.
The last line in the latest blog post thank everybody for the great response to the Mono beta test. Funny… I haven’t seen any “great response”, at all. Where is this so-called “great response”, Babbage?
What is this? Seriously? What is the point? I suppose when it sucks that bad, you have to find something to do, but what exactly are they doing? Is it supposed to be some type of music video or just an example of how to beat a furry to death?
Miyaoka Hitchcock, please let us know. Honestly, this sucks.
